Part One: Video Tips
Most modern video equipment or mobile phone will be suitable for filming tests / shows / workouts.
The judges need to clearly see the horse or pony and rider at all times during the video.
Avoid excessive zooming in and out during the test or show. Some zooming may be necessary when the horse or pony and rider are at the far end of the arena to ensure that the judge can clearly see the combination.
Part Two: Video Tips
Where to video from...
Dressage Tests - Film from outside the arena behind the judge's position at the C marker
Paced and Mannered Ridden Showing Classes - Where possible, film from outside the arena behind the B marker (shown on most workout sheets)
Paced and Mannered In Hand Junior Handler Class – Film from inside the arena at D
If in doubt, just ask us to clarify.
Part Three: Video Tips
If filming on a smartphone, please hold the device in the landscape orientation to record the test / workout.
Sound must be recorded to make sure that competitors are not receiving any form of coaching during their test.
If possible, get a friend to film your test / show / workout for you.
Part Four: Video Tips
Start filming a short time before the rider enters the arena to ensure that the entire ride is captured.
Keep the horse or pony and rider in the centre of the frame - the combination should fill about half of the vertical space in the frame whenever possible.
The test / show / workout should be filmed as one continuous video. Any editing, cutting and splicing, or evidence of the video being recorded in segments, will lead to disqualification from the class.
Uploading your videos
Once paid, please upload your video as soon as possible.
Label your video with your name and the name of your horse PLUS which class you have entered if possible.
